 Abstract:  The professional papers of William A. Longacre (1937-2015), archaeologist and former Head of Anthropology at the University of Arizona. Includes correspondence, research files, publications, organization files, and records of field work in east-central Arizona, the Philippines, and China. Approximately half of the collection documents Longacre’s long term ethnoarchaeological research program focused on ceramics among the Kalinga, an indigenous group in the northern Philippines, consisting of correspondence, field notes, and data analysis.

 Abstract:  Typescript drafts and galley proofs of five works mainly concerned with the late nineteenth century history of the American West. Some contain Bailey's holograph edits; one, Grandpa was a Polygamist, is signed. Two are novels about the Great Basin Indians. The Claws of the Hawk: the Incredible Life of Wahker the Ute, focuses on events in the life of the leader Walkara. Ghost Dance Messiah: the Jack Wilson Story is about the Paiute prophet Wovoka, who originated a Ghost dance phenomenon of the late 1880s. The other three drafts concern Mormon life and history.

Pratt Papers consist primarily of publications, correspondence, transcripts, photographs, and other materials documenting issues facing Native American communities and educators of Native American children. Among the subjects shown are the Bureau of Indian Affairs, schools for Native children, the education of future teachers of Native children, the sensitivity of educators to cultural issues, mid to late twentieth century trends in Native education, and the Johnson-O'Malley plan to aid local schools. Although the materials in the collection date from 1903 to 1990, the bulk of the collection was created between 1953 and 1988.
