 Abstract:  The bulk of this collection documents the post Goldwater period (Barry Goldwater's 1986 retirement from the U.S. Senate), after which Goldwater exerted less direct influence upon the activities of the state Party. Among the collection's strengths are documentation of reapportionment and redistricting, grass roots political activities, fundraising, the selection of local, state, and national delegates, and local and national political campaign material. This collection is arranged in three series and alphabetically within each series.

 Abstract:  SER, which stands for Service, Employment and Redevelopment, was a non-profit job training and education organization. It was also known as Jobs for Progress. It came about in 1964 thanks to the support of LULAC and the American GI Forum. They recognized the need to help the unemployed and provided training, education, and placement opportunities to not only Spanish speakers, but to all disadvantaged individuals. The materials in this collection include organization records and enrollee files, employment records, and case files documenting job training and skill measurement activities. Typescripts of unpublished travel diaries, 1965-1967, concern trips to France, Greece, and Baja California. Also present are printers copies for Great Chain of Life, Forgotten Peninsula, and Grand Canyon; and notes and miscellaneous material related to Herbal.
