Abstract: This collection consists of letters written by Lt. James A. Braun to his family while he was serving in the Vietnam War. The majority of Braun's letters were sent to his parents, William F. and Maxine J. Braun, and sister Leslie in Sepulveda, California, although a few letters from friends and to other individuals are also housed in the collection. The collection also includes two army emblems.

Biographical Note

James Braun graduated from Van Nuys High School and attended San Fernando Valley State College before joining the US Air Force. He was a member of the 1st Infantry Division and served from 1964-1967. He returned from Vietnam in 1968 and married Sue Zanne Garner of Chatsworth on June 30, 1968.


Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of letters written by Lt. James A. Braun to his family while he was serving in the Vietnam War. A majority of the letters were written by Braun and sent to his parents, although a few letters from friends and to other individuals are also housed in the collection. The collection also includes two army emblems.

Series II: Army emblems, undated
Scope and Contents
This series includes two full color army emblems. The soldier in both emblems has 'Braum' on his shirt. One reads "Bravo 2116 INF" and the other reads "From Mike PLT B Co 2116 INF". Both emblems are unique and appear to be made by hand.
