Biographical Note

Edward J. Dawson was born in 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. He had an artistic background having completed graphic arts coursework from the Western Printing & Lithographing Co. Technical Institute. Dawson was also part of the Bremerton Symphony in the viola section. He briefly lived in Arizona, as one of his driver's licenses indicates his 1962 residence in Flagstaff. Edward Dawson was a photographer and mixed his own chemicals for developing photos. He took an extra step in developing the photos by washing out the hypo sulfate which deteriorates the photo after a period of time. Unfortunately, Dawson did not believe in dating photos; as such it is an estimate that these images were taken between 1960 and 1962..

This collection contains photos by photographer Edward J. Dawson. This group of photographs contains images of Native American people (Navajo), the Hopi Reservation, Acoma, Canyon de Chelly, Montezuma's Castle, Taos (New Mexico), Monument Valley, San Francisco Peaks, and the Flagstaff All-Indian Pow next hit-Wow.
