Historical Note

Xico Inc. (previously known as Xicanindio Artes) is a multidisciplinary arts organization created by Chicano and Native American artists in 1975. It is one of the oldest ethnic nonprofit arts organizations in the state of Arizona and is dedicated to "nourish[ing] a greater appreciation of the cultural and spiritual heritages of the Latino and Indigenous peoples of the Americas throughout the Arts." (Source: "What We Do," https://www.xicoinc.org/what-we-do)

Xico Inc. was founded by Zarco Guerrero, a Chicano and Indigenous artist whose vision helped to establish Xico Inc. as place of support and promotion of Indigenous and Chicano artists. The organization also provides art and educational programs and workshops about Indigenous and Chicano arts and culture. Through the decades, Xico Inc. has addressed such topics as teen pregnancy, safe sex, gang violence, and drug and substance abuse.

Currently, Xico Inc. continues its' legacy in "... educational and public programs for youth and adults as well as studio art programs, outreach activities, gallery exhibitions and more." (Source: https://www.xicoinc.org/)
