Historical Note

Dr. John C. Graffin was born in 1883. In the early 1900s he married Edna Lamb. He served in World War I as Captain. Before and after the war, he worked as the Reservation physician for the Navajo Tribe in Shiprock, New Mexico, until his death from typhoid pneumonia in 1921.

Images are of Dr. Graffin and his family living on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock in the 1910s and early 1920s.
