Historical Note
The Rare Books and Manuscripts research unit houses the Library's general collection of rare books and manuscripts and numerous special-interest collections centered around particular persons or topics of interest to scholars. By assembling an array of primary source materials and by conserving these materials under controlled conditions, Rare Books and Manuscripts contributes to the growing reputation of the Library and the University as top-ranked teaching and research organizations.
Scope and Content Note
The Rare Books and Manuscripts research unit currently includes more than 45,000 books, 2,000 linear feet of manuscripts, and a substantial number of photographs, sound and video recordings.
This collection has not been processed in full and requires curatorial approval to view. To request access to specific collection materials please contact Ask An Archivist.
Arrangement
Each record contains a brief title, an Accession Number, which is constructed by the year the materials were required, followed by the sequential order in which they were received (example: 1999-01234). In the case of multiple accessions for one collection, a records will contain multiple accession numbers. Following the accession number is a brief decription of the record which includes the inclusive dates of the materials and the extent of the materials by linear feet.

Files and research notes reflecting his medical practice and work with people who experience Multiple Personality Disorders. Included are documented case studies of patients diagnosed with the disorder and how he was has helped them to lead more normal lives. These studies form much of the documentation used by author Ted Schwarz, with whom Dr. Allison collaborated in the writing of two books on MPD and provide additional information from that presented in their published books. [The books are part of the Ted Schwarz Archive]

Consists primarily of correspondence between Fisher and MacKinnon, most of which discusses the 1982 China War Reporting Conference. Also included is Fisher's Chinese press pass and photographs of Chinese soldiers.
Photographs of the Fisher family and other individuals. The Fishers were a Jewish family living in Gostynin, Poland prior to the Second World War. Individuals depicted include Julius Fisher, Israel Fisher, Sidney Fisher, Helen (Goldman) Fisher, Max Jacobs, and a boyfriend of Helen (Goldman) Fisher's who remained in Poland and was murdered in the Holocaust.

This artificial collection, created by Marilyn Wurzburger, houses a map of New Orleans with the buildings associated with the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition marked; a map of the midwestern and northern United States; a Plan of the City and Environs of the City of Philadelphia (1777), and Bodmar's America: A New Addition From the Recently Rediscovered Plate.
Most of these publications document such historical events as Woodrow Wilson's death, Richard Nixon's resignation, Japan's declaration of war in World War II, and the abolitionist movement. Also included is a copy of the _New York Clipper_, the oldest theatrical journal in the United States.

Accession Number 2019-05636: This is an artificial collection created by the former Special Collections Librarian. Included are photographs, invitations, galleys, autographs, negatives, handwritten and typed letters, and other ephemera created by or sent to literary and public figures, and artists. Some letters were originally tipped into books in the general library and SPEC stacks. They were removed by previous conservators and added to this collection.
