Historical Note

Harold B. Collins was Tucson Postmaster from 1934-1965 when Arnold R. Elias was selected by U.S. Representative Morris Udall to take over. Elias was confirmed by the U.S. Senate and President Johnson for permanent appointment. Many of the photographs in this collection were taken by Herman Berlowe, the Installation Services Director.

This collection spans the administrations of Postmaster Collins and Postmaster Elias in Tucson, Arizona. It contains mostly photographs of post office employees, events and public relations campaigns. It also covers: templates and photographs for the NewSpirit magazine, post office branch dedications, postal campaigns, Special Stamp Issue events, other special events, radio and television publicity photographs, American Philatelic Society Convention and Stamp Clubs documentation, Mail Users Council documents and newspaper clippings scrapbooks.
