Biographical Note

Norman Tessman was the curator at the Sharlot Hall Museum for twenty-five years. He received a Master of Arts and an ABD (All But Dissertation) in Vertebrate Paleontology. He began at the Sharlot Hall Museum as a Curator II and within a year was promoted to Curator III. He contributed to the success of the museum with exhibits creations, accreditation of the museum, and wrote articles for several outdoor publications.

Tessman's sense of adventure for hiking the Grand Canyon inspired him to research the story of the crash and crewmen of the Liberator 107. His search for the story led him to the sister of one of the crewmen. The information received was used in an article Tessman wrote for Arizona Highways. His curiousity of the crash and crewman led him to the site where they were stranded. There he inventoried the equipment and artifacts left behind. Tessman took his project one step further and submitted a nomination to the Arizona State Board on Geographical and Historical Names to have the site renamed in honor the three crewmen. The nomination was unsuccessful and the site was not renamed as promised to the crewmen at the time of the rescue.

Norm Tessman retired from the Sharlot Hall Museum in 2003 and lives in Prescott, Arizona.
