Scope and Content Note

This artificial collection is composed of 124 photographs documenting the Apache people; Phoenix, Arizona; and Roosevelt Dam and Lake. The majority of the photographs showing the Apache were taken by A. F. Randall, while most of the images of Phoenix were printed on commercially produced postcards.

Photographs with call numbers beginning in "CP SPC 44:75" were taken by H. C. Tibbitts and published as a souvenir album titled Apache Trail: The Wonder Trip through Oldest America by the Southern Pacific Railway. These views were made on a touring car expedition along the Apache Trail beginning with the eastern entrance to the Trail near Globe, Arizona and show sights including Native American cliff dwellings at Tonto National Monument; Apache individuals; Roosevelt Lake and Dam; the Salt River; landscapes along the Salt River and Fish Creek Canyon; and the Superstition Mountains. The final image was taken at the western end of the Trail and shows the Ash Street Bridge in Tempe. The photographs are numbered from 27,150 to 27,082 (in reverse order) and are captioned by hand in ink.

Arrangement

This collection consists of one hundred and twenty-four photographs.
