Historical Note

The Arizona Cattle Growers' Association was founded in 1904 by a small group of cattlemen who wanted to advocate for laws that would protect livestock and property in the state of Arizona. Today, the organization represents 2,000 beef cattle producers and industry leaders. Some of their tasks today include lobbying for and drafting legislation that is advantageous to their industry. They also participate in public relation activities that promote positive portrayals of the ranching image and heritage. Lastly, the Arizona Cattle Growers Association builds alliances with other organizations and cultivate their membership base.

Scope and Content Note

These boxes contain Market Reports and Newsletter, Arizona Cattle Growers Outlook, which are the organization's journals. The volumes contain a ledger and membership dues from their early years.

All photocopies of original materials are made by staff. We reserve the right to refuse copy services based on physical condition and possible damage to the materials.

For preservation purposes, if microfilm copies are available, patrons will use the microfilm first.

Many documents held by the Arizona State Archives come under the Public Record law (ARS 41-1350). Documents created by the government are not copyrighted. The United States of America Copyright Law (P.L. 94-553, effective Jan. 1, 1978) extends statutory rights of authority to unpublished works which were previously protected by literary property rights under common law. Such works do not have to be registered with the Copyright Office to receive protection under the law.

The Collection is missing "Marketing Reports and Newsletters" from the entire years of 1935 and 1936. Please check the container list to see which individual issues are missing from the following years; 1934 1937, 1941, 1943, 1944, 1946, 1952, 1954, 1956, 1958 and 1970.
