 Abstract:  Papers (ca. 1930-1953) The papers of L.S.M Curtin document her professional and personal activities as an ethnobotanist in the southwest region. The collection contains material relating to the ethnobotanical fieldwork she pursued in Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico as well as the subsequent publication of her book By Prophet of the Earth (1949). The collection also includes materials pertaining to her various travels and personal and professional relationships with friends, colleagues, patrons, and publishers.

 Abstract:  The Royal Marks Papers contain correspondence, legal papers, printed matter, and holographic notes. Although the collection ranges from 1848 to 1983, the bulk of the papers concern Marks' career as an Indian rights attorney from 1946 to 1977. The papers have been divided into six series: Papago Tribe, Salt River Community, Hualapai and Havasupai Tribes, San Carlos Apache Tribe, Indians (general subjects), and Personal Papers.

 Abstract:  This collection contains digital file images of color photographs taken (mostly) by Dr. Margolis between 1954-1956 in and around Fort Defiance, Arizona and in other locations in northern Arizona and northern New Mexico. The original photographic prints are not held in this collection; the PowerPoint is the source record from which digital file images are collected. Individual image files (JPEG format) were extracted from the PowerPoint and converted into TIFF-formatted files which are available upon request. To facilitate previewing, black and white PDF print surrogates are also included. Several publications highlighting the work of Dr. Margolis have also been included.

 Abstract:  This collection is comprised of personal and professional photographs of Julian D. Hayden. Much of this material relates to his work as an archaeologist, including excavations of Snaketown, Ventana Cave, Pueblo Grande and other excavations. Other photos include Pima Indian ethnographic material, 19th century Arizona ruins and Spanish missions in Arizona and Mexico. Personal photographs include images of Irwin Hayden (Julian D. Hayden’s father,) Emil Haury and other contemporaries of Hayden. There are also some photographs of Julian Hayden’s jewelry work. All images are available in negative format or contact sheets.
