 Abstract:  The Flagstaff 2020 records document the activities undertaken during the 1996-1997 Flagstaff 2020 community visioning project which engaged citizens of Flagstaff in strategic planning for the future of the City of Flagstaff. The project was coordinated by the 2020 Committee, Vision Task Force, and Action Teams, along with institutional partners including the City of Flagstaff, Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce, Coconino County, Northern Arizona University, and others. The records also include oral history interviews with key participants in the 1996-1997 Flagstaff 2020 project conducted by Special Collections & Archives staff in 2020 in connection to the online exhibit Flagstaff 2020: A Clear Vision curated by Marley Oakes.

 Abstract:  From its beginnings until 1985, Tucson Tomorrow represented the diverse efforts of a largely volunteer group to provide a "bottom up" approach to specific focus areas relating to the development of the community. By researching public attitudes in identified areas relating to the quality of life in Tucson, the group established goals, objectives, and supporting action plans to resolve issues challenging present and future development of the city and environs. The bulk of the records relate to the first five years of the organization as its Board and Committees met and compiled their reports.

 Abstract:  The Karan English Papers make up an extensive collection of documents covering the business and issues of Northern Arizona's Coconino County, of the state of Arizona, and of the U.S. federal government from 1981 to 1994. These papers include correspondence, reports, articles, newsletters, fact sheets, speeches, appointment books, daily schedules, position papers, press releases, meeting agendas and minutes, campaign materials, elections data, voting records, budget records, office memoranda, and numerous legislative issues files. This manuscript collection is arranged in five series which run chronologically and follow English's political progression from Coconino County Supervisor, to Representative in the Arizona House, to member of the Arizona Senate, and finally to Congresswoman in the United States House of Representatives. The fifth series is a collection of news clippings covering numerous topics of local and national significance during her years in the U.S. House.
