Pyne, who began his academic career at the University Iowa before becoming one of the founding faculty members of ASU-West, and later moved to ASU's Department of History and the School of Life Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on the Tempe campus. His groundbreaking research primarily focuses on global fire history, particularly in the US, Russia, Australia, Mexico, and Canada.
