He attended Stanford University before enlisting in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in San Francisco. He became a pilot in the American
Expeditionary Force and was killed in action on September 15, 1918, at the age of 22. This collection includes, but is not limited to,
biographical information; correspondence to family while traveling and training in San Diego, California, Italy, and France. It also includes
photos, personal records, details of his death, and posthumous awards (including one signed by the President of France and another by General
John J.
