 Abstract:  This project is a two-phase data recovery program at nine prehistoric sites and segments of a historical-period road along a 3.8 mile segment of SR 188 near Jakes Corner. The project area is located in western Gila County, mostly within the administrative boundaries of the Tonto National Forest. A small portion of one archaeological site extends onto private property.

 Abstract:  Samuel Clark, born in 1871, was the founder of Clarkston, Ariz. Operated mining properties in Ajo and Clarkston (later called Rowood) beginning in 1907. Laid out townsite of Clarkston in 1916. The collection includes mining papers, account books, records of leases, scrapbook of photographs and newspaper clippings, and other business and personal papers. Includes blueprints of maps, time books and expense accounts, and photographs of Clarkston and the Ajo Mining District. Also present are family photographs, subscription lists of Clarkston inhabitants, and account books for rental properties.

Poston, as attorney for the Arizona Mining Company, transferred to Roswell Sabine Ripley of London, for the price of 100,000 pounds sterling, all the real and movable property and mineral rights pertaining to the Arivaca Ranch and the Heintzelman (or Cerro Colorado) Mine. Inserted is an affidavit signed by the Mayor of London and the U.S. Consul-General at London acknowledging the validity of the agreement.
