 Abstract:  Typescript drafts and galley proofs of five works mainly concerned with the late nineteenth century history of the American West. Some contain Bailey's holograph edits; one, Grandpa was a Polygamist, is signed. Two are novels about the Great Basin Indians. The Claws of the Hawk: the Incredible Life of Wahker the Ute, focuses on events in the life of the leader Walkara. Ghost Dance Messiah: the Jack Wilson Story is about the Paiute prophet Wovoka, who originated a Ghost dance phenomenon of the late 1880s. The other three drafts concern Mormon life and history.

Miscellaneous materials primarily include announcements and programs for Eastlake's lectures, book publishers' catalogs, and a calendar. The photographs in this collection are primarily of William Eastlake, but also included are photographs of his ranch in New Mexico and various other individuals.
