 Abstract:  Thomas A. Lister was an Entrepreneur associated with Metal Mining Properties, Lordsburg, New Mexico. Collection includes handwritten and typescript documents pertaining mainly to Lister's mining enterprises in Grant County and Hidalgo County, New Mexico. Included are location notices, assay reports, hand-drawn maps, blueprints, notebooks, telegrams, and other documents concerning the promotion, sale, and lease of specific mines.

 Abstract:  The family members were residents of Rockton, Ill. Albion, George, and Herman, sons of Calvin Stevens, served in the U.S. Army as volunteers during the Civil War. Collection includes correspondence between members of the Calvin Stevens family, chiefly sons Albion, 1862-1863, George, 1862-1863, and Herman, while serving in the Civil War. Later correspondence from Herman relates mining and railroad activities in California, the Northwest, Arizona and New Mexico.

 Title:  Account Book of the Old Abe Co. 1890-1891 ead

 Abstract:  The Old Abe mine, in White Oaks, New Mexico, produced a million dollars worth of gold from one of the deepest dry mines in the world. Its true vein was discovered in 1890 by William Watson, who shared ownership with seven other people, named in the back of the book. One volume, lists dividends, expenses and receipts from 1890-1891. It is accompanied by photocopies of five articles from the Lincoln County (N.M.) News, from 1956-1958, relating the history of the mine and the area.

It contains official postal documents used in the daily business of the post office, correspondence from and to the post masters, ledgers documenting packages and monies mailed to and received from locations around the world, and newspaper clippings of post office daily operations and activities. The names of New Mexico residents are noted in several of the ledgers in regards to packages and COD records. The collection provides a history of postal operations in New Mexico and is of particular use to those interested in postal history and genealogy.
