 Abstract:  Montague Stevens, 1859-1953 was a pioneer New Mexico rancher in the Magdalena and Reserve areas, where he operated the S.U. Cattle Co. and the Shropshire Sheep Company. Portfolio containing chiefly correspondence, along with legal documents, bills, and financial records related to Montague Stevens and his ranching operations. Correspondence and telegrams mostly concern problems with his financial backers in England. Specific files for the S.U. Cattle Co. and the Shropshire Sheep Co. contain business correspondence regarding supplies and equipment, as well as legal papers.

This collection contains materials relating to Don Alonzo Sanford, a prominent resident of Territorial Arizona who was a Patagonia cattle/ sheep rancher and Tucson politician, as well as a successful Washington, D.C. businessman. This collection is comprised of correspondence, documents, deeds, diaries/ledgers and photographs. The bulk of the material relates to Sanford's Arizona ranch as well as his varied business interests in both Tucson and Washington, D.C. The collection also contains legal records relating to the San Jose de Sonoita land grant. Also included are various maps, blueprints, postcards and negatives.

 Abstract:  John S. Delano and Joseph Workman Dwyer were owners of the D. & D. Ranch. Dwyer, a Washington D.C. official, moved to New Mexico in 1876, and began raising sheep at Uña de Gato Creek. He and Delano then became partners in a large-scale cattle enterprise, also known as the D. & D. Ranch Co., at Johnson's Mesa. Dwyer sold out to become involved in real estate, in 1892. Three recording books containing livestock branding records and accounts of the operation and maintenance of the ranch in Otero, Colfax County, New Mexico. Some may also apply to Dwyer's Uña de Gato Ranch.

 Abstract:  Bound ledger used for several different purposes; the last third of the book is blank. The first 29 pages contain financial entries for the grocery business of J.A. Lyons and Company in 1883. Incoming payments are registered, as are outgoing payments for store rent, office supplies, and the clerk's salary. Prices and quantities for groceries bought and sold are given.
