 Abstract:  This collection contains the earliest information about the founding (c. 1910) of a Yaqui Indian settlement southeast of Phoenix in Maricopa County, now a Yaqui-Mexican town. Included in this collection is a holograph and typescript (photocopy) of names of residents, financial records and historical data. Also includes a photocopy of a blueprint plan of the townsite.

 Abstract:  Holograph letter written to Harvey Whitehill, Sheriff of Grant Co., New Mexico, dated March 26, 1900. It was sent from Tiernan's office in Galveston, Texas. The letter recounts his 1880 arrival in the Territory of New Mexico and his first meeting with Sheriff Whitehill. It also relates their encounter with Victorio's band of Apaches on Copper Creek, northwest of Silver City, and their subsequent rescue by the 6th Cavalry regiment under Captain Madden, and the 9th regiment under Colonel Hatch.

 Abstract:  Dr. Harold A. Widdison was a sociologist who taught at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff for 30 years. In addition to his professional work and research he was very interested in documenting prehistoric rock art and traveled extensively to visit hundreds of sites. This collection consists of slides, photographs, maps, and other documentation of both well-known and more obscure rock art sites visited by Widdison, mostly in the American Southwest but also throughout Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

Collection includes eighteenth-century copy of the diary kept by Vélez de Escalante on his expedition with Dominguez through the four corners area of the American Southwest, July 29, 1776 to Jan. 2, 1777.
