 Abstract:  This collection contains material documenting the De la Torre family and their involvement in the Cristero Movement. The family traveled from central Mexico to Nogales, Sonora bringing the Movement to northern Mexico. Items include biographical materials; correspondence; printed materials, including pamphlets, newsletters, newsclippings, and Public Statements; and photographs and negatives. The bulk of the material is printed materials and photographs. This collection also contains over 280 books that can be found in the University of Arizona Library catalog under the title Cristero Movement Collection. The majority of the material is in Spanish. These materials, dating chiefly from 1935 through 1959, reflect Collier's interest in Mexican folklore, especially folk dance and the tradition of las posadas, and document her work in reviving las posadasand establishing Mexican cultural awareness at Carrillo School. This collection was a 1977 gift to the Southwest Folklore Archives from Mrs. Betty Sagerstrom. This collection was previously titled SWF 005.

 Abstract:  This collection contains digital file images of color photographs taken (mostly) by Dr. Margolis between 1954-1956 in and around Fort Defiance, Arizona and in other locations in northern Arizona and northern New Mexico. The original photographic prints are not held in this collection; the PowerPoint is the source record from which digital file images are collected. Individual image files (JPEG format) were extracted from the PowerPoint and converted into TIFF-formatted files which are available upon request. To facilitate previewing, black and white PDF print surrogates are also included. Several publications highlighting the work of Dr. Margolis have also been included.
