 Abstract:  Bound manuscript volume contains two different works on northern New Spain. Also contains a complete copy of the diary kept by the Franciscans Silvestre Vélez de Escalante and Francisco Atanasio Domínguez. It recounts their expedition into Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico in 1776-1777.

 Title:  Fort Vancouver (Washington) records 1854-1866 ead

 Abstract:  Located at the border of Washington and Oregon, it was a Hudson Bay Company trading post from 1829-1846. One portfolio containing printed and holographic items related primarily to the 4th Infantry, based at Fort Vancouver. The earliest material consists of nine monthly post returns from 1854, signed by the commanding officer, Lt. Col. Benjamin Louis Eulalie de Bonneville. These post returns list officers by name; enlisted men by count; civil employees, their duties, and rate of pay; official communications received; also the names of anyone sick, or in confinement for desertion. A food survey report from 1856 is concerned with rotten pork, hard bread, and moldy coffee. Later correspondence, special orders, and general orders date from 1860 to 1866.

 Abstract:  The United States Army Ambulance Service, also known as the USAAS, was created by presidential order May 18, 1917, for the duration of the "existing emergency." This original typescript relates the history of the Ambulance Service with the French Army on the Western Front, during WWI. A signed introduction by Col. Percy L. Jones, Paris, April 15, 1919, states that the report is in compliance with instructions given by the Surgeon General, Nov. 27, 1918.

 Abstract:  The Yanaconas were a hereditary class of Indian servants in South America. Official handwritten copy, dated the 6th of January, 1754, of a petition by the procurador general of the town council of Mizque to the Viceroy of Peru, on behalf of the Yanaconas Indians. It protests the practice of the corregidor, the chief magistrate of the province, of charging an annual tax of seven pesos per head rather than the three pesos and one real stipulated by the Viceroy.

It is undated, but the introductory biography section notes Helmont's death date, thus the compilation must be after 1644; perhaps even sometime from the 18th century.

 Abstract:  Photocopies of typed transcriptions. Some are royal orders, 1784- 1786, directed to Bishop Antonio de los Reyes, concerning the custodial settlement of the missions and missionaries. The individual documents are noted as being copies and signed by the officials Miguel Ant. Cuevas at Alamos and Christoval Carvalan at Arizpe. Also includes some letters from Reyes to Viceroy Martías de Galvez about the urgent need to establish the Custodia of San Carlos. The final section has reports for Visitor General José de Gálvez.

 Abstract:  This collection contains material documenting the De la Torre family and their involvement in the Cristero Movement. The family traveled from central Mexico to Nogales, Sonora bringing the Movement to northern Mexico. Items include biographical materials; correspondence; printed materials, including pamphlets, newsletters, newsclippings, and Public Statements; and photographs and negatives. The bulk of the material is printed materials and photographs. This collection also contains over 280 books that can be found in the University of Arizona Library catalog under the title Cristero Movement Collection. The majority of the material is in Spanish.
