unpublished works by Spanish-language writers. Some of the authors are Concha
Espina de Serna, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Jose Maria Carretero,
Guillermo Diaz-Caneja, Gregorio Martinez Sierra, Rafael Delgado, Pedro Juan
Labarthe, Jose Lopez- Portillo y Rojas, Emilia Pardo-Bazan, Jose Echegaray and
Eduardo Zamacois. Personal material consists of correspondence and family
photographs, from marriage to Charles Fletcher Lummis, and later to Courtenay
DeKalb, with whom she operated the Roadside Mine in Arizona. Photographs and
correspondence related to the mine are present. Also included are typescripts
of Douglas' published and unpublished articles, stories, and translations.
Original drawings are by E.A. Burbank and Carl Oscar Borg. Correspondence with
friends and publishers includes writers Eugene Rhodes, Henry Knibbs, Concha
Espina, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, José María
Carretero, Pedro Labarthe, Guillermo Diaz-Caneja, and the publisher Phoebe
Hearst. Diaries and photographs document travels to Mexico and Europe. Stories
were recorded by Douglas while she lived among the Isleta Indians. Mexican and
U.S. newspapers, 1911-1915, report on the Mexican Revolution. Related material

including Kiowas, Comanches and Pawnees. In the summer and fall of 1880, while stationed at Fort Quitman, Texas, Nolan cooperated
with Mexican forces along the Rio Grande River, in the pursuit of Indians with the Apache chief, Victorio. Correspondents

Oral History Project, 1966-2022 ead | | | Date(s): | 1966-2022 | | | Abstract: | The Doris Duke Native American Oral History Project was initiated in 1967 across seven different universities. At the University of Arizona, the project was conducted through the Arizona State Museum and coordinated by Bernard “Bunny” Fontana, an anthropologist who was the museum’s Director of Ethnology at the time. The project resulted in the collection of 615 interviews, representing 33 different tribal groups. The bulk of the collection is from Apache, Navajo, Pima, Tohono O'Odham, and Yaqui consultants. Other tribes from Arizona and Mexico are also represented: including the Mohave, Hopi, Seri, Tarahumara, and Yavapai. The interviews discuss personal and family histories, along with topics such as social culture, education, folklore, health and health care, history, language, and religion. Interviews with Acoma, Apache, Chiricahua, Chemehuevi, Chontal, Dakota, Inuit, Havasupai, Hualapai, Juaneño, Maricopa, Mexican, Mormon, Muslim, Mohave, Navajo, Pima, Quechua, San Juan, Santa Clara, Seri, Spanish-American, Tarahumara, Tewa, Tohono O'Odham, Tiwa, Western Apache, Yaqui, Yavapai, and Yuman interviewees.
