 Abstract:  Typescript drafts and galley proofs of five works mainly concerned with the late nineteenth century history of the American West. Some contain Bailey's holograph edits; one, Grandpa was a Polygamist, is signed. Two are novels about the Great Basin Indians. The Claws of the Hawk: the Incredible Life of Wahker the Ute, focuses on events in the life of the leader Walkara. Ghost Dance Messiah: the Jack Wilson Story is about the Paiute prophet Wovoka, who originated a Ghost dance phenomenon of the late 1880s. The other three drafts concern Mormon life and history.

The photographs in this collection are primarily of William Eastlake, but also included are photographs of his ranch in New Mexico and various other individuals.
