 Abstract:  This collection is centered on Yocum’s academic and professional interests in horticulture, botany and geology as well as his personal interests in musical composition, his family’s history and Christian religion and his role in the creation and development of Tucson Botanical Gardens. Items included in the collection are his notes on botany, research into palm trees, publications, autobiographical and family history information, press clippings; records regarding the Rockhounds, the Arizona branch of the International Palm Society and Tucson Botanical Gardens.

 Abstract:  Diary and Notebooks, 1859-1861. This collection includes materials which document the travels and surveys of Richmond Jones (1833-1861) while working for the Sopori Land and Mining Company in the Santa Cruz Valley of Arizona. The diary describes his journey from Rhode Island to Tucson, Arizona and offer insights on individuals and mining activities in southern Arizona until his sudden death at the hands of Apaches, in the field, in 1861. Includes account books, letters, survey books and documents, as well as a report on the Sopori and San Xavier mines by mining engineer Raphael Pumpelly (1837-1923) who was in charge of the Santa Rita Mine from 1860-1861.

 Abstract:  The Arizona Bureau of Mines, now the Arizona Geological Survey, was founded in 1883 by the Arizona legislature as the Office of the Territorial Geologist. Since its founding, the Arizona Geological Survey has been several Territorial and State Geologic Agencies, including the Arizona Bureau of Mines from 1915 to 1977. In 1893, the University of Arizona acquired the role of geologic mapping and reporting and still maintains this mission with the Arizona Geological Survey. This collection contains three production data logs from the Arizona Bureau of Mines with information about the production of copper, gold, lead, silver, and zinc in Arizona counties from 1858 to 1977.
