 Abstract:  Photocopy of typescript compilation of legends and historic accounts, as told to Carmela Reyna de León by her family and friends living in the Altar region of Sonora, Mexico. A few song verses are present. Also included is a photocopied letter, with translation, written by the author to Norman Simons of Tucson, Ariz., dated Oct. 5, 1965. It concerns the possible translation of this volume.

 Abstract:  Teatro Libertad was a Chicano street theater group that was founded in 1975 in Tucson, Arizona. Over the course of 10 years, it produced a number of plays and skits, performing them in a variety of places, from cotton fields to local neighborhood centers to international theater festivals. The group worked collectively to write their own material. Their focus was on issues affecting the Mexican American community and the working class. The material included in this collection is comprised primarily of original scripts, photographs, publicity, news articles and organizational documents.

 Abstract:  Jose Romero was a Lieutenant Colonel, Sonora, Mexico; leader of 1823-1826 expeditions to establish an inland route between Sonora, Mex. and California. Collection contains a letter (photocopy) to Mariana de Urrea, Commandante General de Sonora, from Romero in San Gabriel, Calif., recounting his experiences in attempting unsuccessfully to return to Sonora in the winter of 1823-1824 through the Palm Springs area, and describing the mail route between Tucson and San Gabriel which was conducted by Jose Cocomaricopa, the bearer of this letter, via the Colorado River route.
