	Abstract:	The Manuel Lito Peña Papers consist of personal files and photographs documenting Peña's work in Tolleson, Arizona in the 1950s with the Community Service Organization (CSO); correspondence reflecting his friendship with César Chávez, farm labor union leader and organizer; legislative speeches made and bills introduced in the Arizona Senate (1966-1996); campaign literature generated when Peña sought re-election as the Democratic representative for District 22; political statements made and additional documents produced explaining Peña's votes on a variety of issues presented for discussion among lawmakers, including the Governor Evan Mecham impeachment hearings in 1988; biographical information; newspaper clippings and printed matter about state and county elections (1980s-1996); correspondence from and to Peña's District 22 constituents (1966-1996); and original photographs portraying Senator Peña's friendships with community activists, leaders, and organizers of the Community Service Organization (CSO) at meetings in California in 1956 and 1957.

	Abstract:	Consists of the professional papers of archaeologist James C. Gifford dating from the 1920s to the early 2000s. The bulk of the collection is composed of records for the journal Ceramica de Cultura Maya et al. This publication was a key platform for collating scholarship on Mayan ceramics. Also included in the papers are items such as Gifford's journal of his 1952 trip to Tarahumara settlements in Mexico, extensive ceramic typology research files, publication materials for his study of the Barton Ramie site in Belize, the records of a joint project with Watson Smith on Awatovi corrugated ceramics, and extensive correspondence files from scholars around the world involved in pottery research. These papers document the conceptual development of the type:variety-mode approach to the study of prehistoric ceramics.

	Abstract:	The manuscript collection consists of 13 boxes (7.5 linear feet) of manuscript material arranged in eight series. These consists of the diaries of William Wallace and Ada Bass (1894-1929), Business Correspondence (1901-1971), Financial Records (1883-1946), Mining Documents (1896-19246 and 1954-1956), Personal Correspondence and Family History (1849-1963), Manuscripts (1881-1919), Scrapbooks, (1891-1903), and Printed Material (1864-1976). The oral history collection consists of two series. The first includes nine cassette tapes of interviews with W.G. Bass, W.W. Bass' son with accompanying transcripts. The second includes tapes of interviews with Ed Kahle (driver of automobile for W.W. Bass), Harry Phillips (hauled ore for W.W. Bass) and Jack Fuss (worked for W.W. Bass for a year). The photograph collection consists of 24 boxes (13.5 linear feet) of prints, lantern slides, and glass plate negatives. There are nineteen boxes of photographic prints, dealing primarily with W.W. Bass and the Bass family. The majority of the photographs were taken in the Grand canyon where the Bass' camps, mines, and homes were located, and include images of and around the White House, Tin House, Bass Camp, Bass Cave, Shinumo Camp, and Rock Camp. Some photographs portray Ada's family and home in New York. There are numerous images of Havasupai Indians, including individuals (Chicakpanage and many unidentified), school children, homes, dancers and a sweat lodge. In several of these, Bass family members, particularly W.W. Bass, are present. There are also a few photographs of Navajo and Hopi Indians, including a trip to Hotevilla and a Hopi Snake Dance.

	Abstract:	Black Sparrow Press was a small independent publishing house focused on avant-garde literature. Produced by John and Barbara Martin, with the help of typographer and printer Graham Mackintosh, the Press was responsible for drawing attention to Charles Bukowski and his literary work. Each published title includes correspondence from authors, layout matter and artwork, ephemera, photographs, manuscripts, proofs, and first editions. Black Sparrow Press published a number of American and English authors including Diane Wakoski, Joyce Carol Oates, Robert Creeley, Charles Olson, John Fante, Gerard Malanga, Wanda Coleman, and acquired publication rights for Wyndham Lewis and D. H. Lawrence.
