 Abstract:  John Francis, 1848-1899, was a manager of the Astillero Mine, Huasco, Chile, for the Camarones Copper Company during the 1890-1894 period. Collection includes original mechanical drawings of smelting installations used in the Chilean copper industry during the latter half of the 19th century, accompanied by a day book, 1890-1894, of the Astillero Mine finances.

 Title:  Account Book of the Old Abe Co. 1890-1891 ead

 Abstract:  The Old Abe mine, in White Oaks, New Mexico, produced a million dollars worth of gold from one of the deepest dry mines in the world. Its true vein was discovered in 1890 by William Watson, who shared ownership with seven other people, named in the back of the book. One volume, lists dividends, expenses and receipts from 1890-1891. It is accompanied by photocopies of five articles from the Lincoln County (N.M.) News, from 1956-1958, relating the history of the mine and the area.
