 Title:  Charles Walter Couldock scrapbook 1815-1898 ead

 Abstract:  Scrapbook containing chiefly photoengraved portraits; some original engravings are also present. Also included are press reviews which describe plays in New Orleans and San Francisco in which Couldock, and his daughter Eliza Couldock, performed. Two letters are present. One from 1862 refers to the London appearance of E.A. Sothern as Lord Dundreary; the other, from 1871, was written to Couldock from the actress Charlotte Cushman. The portraits cover a broad spectrum of famous people, particularly rulers, statesmen, military leaders, the nobility, and authors. Others included are actors and actresses, musicians, scientists, artists, and explorers.

 Abstract:  Contains chiefly Personal Materials, Diaries, Correspondence, Scrap-books, Plays, Novels, and Photographs relating to her career as an American playwright, author, and journalist from the 1910s through the 1960s. Diaries include her travels to Europe and Moscow in the 1930s, and daily activities for selected years spanning 1942 to 1970. Noted correspondents include Louise and Walter Arensberg, Arthur Craven, Maynard Dixon, Helena Modjeska, Robert A. Parker, family and friends, colleagues, employers, and inter-view-ees, including Sarah Bernhardt and Francisco Villa. Scrapbooks document her private life; college years at University of California, 1901-1906; early acting, writing, and employment in California, New York, Europe, and Mexico, 1909-1932; and critical coverage of the productions of her dramatic works from 1918-1949.

 Abstract:  Dr. Jack L. August, Jr. (1954-2017) was an expert in Arizona water-related politics, senators, and other historical subjects. His collection includes his personal materials, professional files, research files, writings, audiovisual materials, and memorabilia he collected throughout his life. August taught at several different institutions and held various positions at colleges, universities, and other history-focused institutions. He served as an expert witness on key pieces of water rights legislation in the state of Arizona. He researched several prominent Arizonan politicians including Barry Goldwater, Dennis DeConcini, and Evan Mecham. He also did several research projects surrounding Wade Church, Jim Chilton, the New Mexico Bar Association, and John R. Norton III, amongst others. A large portion of his research files are dedicated to water politics of Arizona including, but not limited to ANSAC, the CAP, the Colorado River Controversy, Native American/indigenous water rights, the Santa Cruz River, the Salt River, the Gila River, and others.
