 Abstract:  This collection contains administrative materials on the founding of Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Studies at the University of Arizona beginning in 1993. The collection also includes the events and programming that the Committee for Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Studies put on from 1993 through 2015. In 2007, the Committee was formally re-established as the Institute for LGBT Studies, and in 2023 was re-established as the UA LGBTQ+ Institute. This collection is part of the Arizona Queer Archives (AQA), a community focused archive through the Institute for LGBT Studies at the University of Arizona. It was transferred to Special Collections in 2020.

 Abstract:  This collection is comprised of documents generated and compiled by the Tucson GLBT commission from its inception in 1999. The bulk of the material are meeting notes from monthly meetings, but also includes specific research into the commission’s area of interest such as hate crimes, transgender awareness and domestic partnerships. While the material is mostly documents, there are some AV materials that are designed as outreach for the community. It also contains community feedback and criticism regarding GLBT topics.

 Abstract:  The Wingspan LGBT Community Center records consist of materials related to over 25 years as a non-profit supporting LGBTQI communities. From programming to grants written and received to the Wingspan Film Festival materials to organizational materials related to bylaws, executive director notes, and meeting minutes, this collection offers a full historical picture of Wingspan, Southern Arizona's LGBTQ Community Center which closed its doors in July 2014. This collection is part of the Arizona Queer Archives (AQA), a community focused archive through the Institute for LGBT Studies at the University of Arizona. It was transferred to Special Collections in 2020.
