Archaeological testing was conducted to determine the
nature and extent of subsurface cultural remains at AZ U:15:530(ASM), a large
prehistoric and historic artifact scatter located on the western edge of Florence,
Arizona. The purpose of the testing was to determine if subsurface cultural features
were present and would be impacted by a possible housing development.
Consists of the professional papers of Emil Walter Haury (1904 – 1992), prominent archaeologist, instructor, and advocate for protection of antiquities and the environment. Haury was best known for his influential work on the prehistory of the American Southwest, especially Hohokam culture.
