 Abstract:  Hurdaide was the Mexican-born captain of the presidio of San Felipe from 1598 to 1626, and was in charge of the extension of Spanish and Christian rule in Sinaloa and Sonora. He was Alcalde Mayor de Sinaloa, circa 1600 to 1626. Collection includes photocopy of transcribed typescript in Spanish with English translation

 Abstract:  Photocopies of typed transcriptions. Some are royal orders, 1784- 1786, directed to Bishop Antonio de los Reyes, concerning the custodial settlement of the missions and missionaries. The individual documents are noted as being copies and signed by the officials Miguel Ant. Cuevas at Alamos and Christoval Carvalan at Arizpe. Also includes some letters from Reyes to Viceroy Martías de Galvez about the urgent need to establish the Custodia of San Carlos. The final section has reports for Visitor General José de Gálvez.

 Abstract:  This collection contains material documenting the De la Torre family and their involvement in the Cristero Movement. The family traveled from central Mexico to Nogales, Sonora bringing the Movement to northern Mexico. Items include biographical materials; correspondence; printed materials, including pamphlets, newsletters, newsclippings, and Public Statements; and photographs and negatives. The bulk of the material is printed materials and photographs. This collection also contains over 280 books that can be found in the University of Arizona Library catalog under the title Cristero Movement Collection. The majority of the material is in Spanish. Topics of interest include the Mexican Revolution, WWI, and medical research and publications on a number of topics including yellow fever on the northwest coast of Mexico in the early-mid 1920s.

 Title:  Mining Reports on Claims in the Naica Mining District, Chihuahua, Mexico 1935-1937 ead

 Abstract:  The Naica Extension Mine, formerly called the Felicidad, actually consists of 45 mining claims situated on the Naica Mountain in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. Reports to investors detailing activities at mines located in Chihuahua, Mexico; chiefly Naica Extension Mine. Mining engineer James V. Dignowity, along with William L. Heyl, wrote these work progress reports, 1935-1936. Small black-and-white photographs depict the area, mining operations, and workers. A map shows the mining claims of the Naica Mining District. Assay/smelting reports are from both the American Smelting and Refining Company, and the Compañia Metalúrgica Peñoles, S.A., 1936-1937.
