These document activity between Franciscan friars, the Navajo population, Catholic organizations, the U. S. Government, and the Land Commissioner of the Santa Fe Pacific Railroad Company. Included are materials on Navajo land allotments, education, language, social conditions, government and church relations, tourism, and origins of the Navajo Tribal Council.

 Abstract:  Scrapbook containing chiefly photoengraved portraits; some original engravings are also present. Also included are press reviews which describe plays in New Orleans and San Francisco in which Couldock, and his daughter Eliza Couldock, performed. Two letters are present. One from 1862 refers to the London appearance of E.A. Sothern as Lord Dundreary; the other, from 1871, was written to Couldock from the actress Charlotte Cushman. The portraits cover a broad spectrum of famous people, particularly rulers, statesmen, military leaders, the nobility, and authors. Others included are actors and actresses, musicians, scientists, artists, and explorers.

This includes correspondence with the law firm of Cox and Cox, and Henry F. Dobyns; also transcripts of the court hearings. Background information, in support of claims by the Pima-Maricopa, includes photocopies of primary source material from the Spanish, Mexican, and American periods. The rest of the collection includes various materials relating to Ezell's work and professional interests: diaries, record books, correspondence with colleagues, published and unpublished reports and articles, reviews, drawings, charts, maps of southern Arizona, microfilms, audiotapes, black-and-white photographs, negatives, and color slides.

 Abstract:  This collection consists of research materials relating to Albert E. Ward's archeological work in New Mexico. A majority of the collection references "Site 48," a ruin that Ward excavated in New Mexico. Site 48's authenticity was later called into question, leading to several legal battles in which Ward participated, claiming that the site was authentic and his evidence was proof of a Spanish-Indian residential fort.
