 Abstract:  Ledger covers Fort Stanton store accounts, from May 1, 1871 to Dec. 31, 1872, including accounts for Troop "D" 8th U.S. Calvary, Company "I" 15th U.S. Infantry, and Troop "B" 8th U.S. Calvary. A second daily journal includes Fort Stanton store, from May to June 1873, and Lincoln, N.M., store from July 1873 to Jan. 1874; it lists customers and items sold.

 Abstract:  J.H. Stout was a U.S. Special Indian Agent for U.S. Indian Agency at the Gila River Indian Reservation. The collection contains a holograph, carbon letter book covering the period December 1, 1871 to March 21, 1875. Letters are from Stout chiefly to his superiors and benefactors back east and describe the needs and conditions of the people and the reservation school.
