 Abstract:  The Plez Talmage Reilly collection encompasses personal papers related to P.T. Reilly's interests in the history of the Grand Canyon, the Colorado Plateau, and Lees Ferry. The majority of this collection dates from the 1930s to the 1970s — when Reilly was most active in river running, exploration, and publishing on these subjects — and includes documentation in a variety of mediums, including manuscripts, photographs, artifacts, oral history interviews, and films related to human exploration and settlement of the southern Utah and northern Arizona region.

Parker, family and friends, colleagues, employers, and inter-view-ees, including Sarah Bernhardt and Francisco Villa. Scrapbooks document her private life; college years at University of California, 1901-1906; early acting, writing, and employment in California, New York, Europe, and Mexico, 1909-1932; and critical coverage of the productions of her dramatic works from 1918-1949.

 Abstract:  This collection contains materials documenting the Riggs pioneer family history from the time Brannick Riggs married Mary Elizabeth Robbins in Texas in 1856, their first wagon train move to Colorado in 1871, and several years later relocating again to southeastern Arizona, arriving and settling in Sulphur Springs Valley in 1879. Their eighth child, John Casey Riggs (1874-1943), was the family’s historian and creator of the bulk of the papers. The collection includes Our El Dorado, a biographical book written by John C. Riggs and his daughter, Jeanette Riggs Roll. Also included in the collection are biographical manuscripts; diaries and journals; business and personal correspondence; business records and ledgers; printed materials, including pamphlets, catalogs, newspapers and clippings; homestead land and mine patents; political papers of John Casey Riggs; maps; and photographs and negatives.

 Abstract:  Correspondence, research materials, published and unpublished manuscripts and articles, slides, photographs, and one audio tape, primarily from 1943 to 1957, of anthropologist George C. Barker. The collection documents Barker's anthropological research into folk drama and ritual, the social functions of language, the Pachuco language of Hispanic youths, and Yaqui Indian culture and customs. A 1964 gift to the Southwest Folklore Archives from George C. Barker, Sr. Deaccessioned from the collection in 1993 were approximately 0.2 feet of duplicates and items of a personal nature. In 1996 two 11 x 14 black-and-white photographs by Alfred A. Cohn were transferred to the L. Marguerite Collier Collection, Southwest Folklore Center Manuscripts Collection MS 611. This collection was previously titled SWF 004.
