 Abstract:  The Day family were traders on the Navajo Nation (then the Navajo Indian Reservation) in eastern Arizona. The collection includes the personal and business papers of Sam Day, Sr. (1845-1925) surveyor, trader, legislator and United States Indian Commissioner; Anna Day, Sam Sr.'s wife (1872-1932); and of their children, Charles L. Day (1879-1918), Samuel Day, Jr. (1889-1944), United States deputy Marshall. The collection includes information on Navajo culture, stories and legends; the looting of Canyon del Muerta, and the Frank Dugan murder. The collection also contains 91 photographs depicting trading posts and eastern Arizona scenes.

 Abstract:  Allan Radbourne was a writer and historian. In addition to numerous journal and magazine articles about Western history, he published an acclaimed biography of Apache Scout Mickey Free in 2005 called Mickey Free: Apache captive, interpreter, and Indian Scout. Later in life he began writing about the early cinema, with a history of silent movies titled The Silent Mountie Movies-1910-1930 published posthumously in 2021. The Allan Radbourne collection consists of 7 series of records, notes, photographs, articles, transcriptions, presentations and other reference materials related to Southwestern Frontier and Borderlands History circa 1800's and early 1900's created by Allan Radbourne. Inclusive dates reflect the original date of the primary source material if available or if it is transcribed from an original source material. Born digital material found on a flash drive can be found in Series V.

 Abstract:  The Arizona Mormon Pioneer Collection introduces researchers to the family histories of many original settlers in northern Arizona. Eighteen hundred and seventy-six marked the year that the first permanent Mormon settlements appeared in northern Arizona. Traversing the Utah Territory, settlers crossed the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry, and then made their way along the Little Colorado River. From this juncture, hundreds of Mormon settlers built towns, established schools and churches, and fought with locals across the face of the Arizona Territory before they could call it their home.
