 Abstract:  Charles D. Poston, 1825-1902, was an Arizona pioneer and in 1864 became the first Arizona delegate to Congress. In 1884, he founded the Society of Arizona Pioneers, later the Arizona Historical Society. Unbound holographic volume, in ink, containing two groups of lectures: Part I, "On learning," and Part II, "On religion."

 Abstract:  Typescript drafts and galley proofs of five works mainly concerned with the late nineteenth century history of the American West. Some contain Bailey's holograph edits; one, Grandpa was a Polygamist, is signed. Two are novels about the Great Basin Indians. The Claws of the Hawk: the Incredible Life of Wahker the Ute, focuses on events in the life of the leader Walkara. Ghost Dance Messiah: the Jack Wilson Story is about the Paiute prophet Wovoka, who originated a Ghost dance phenomenon of the late 1880s. The other three drafts concern Mormon life and history.

 Abstract:  The Great Soul Trial was first held in Phoenix, Arizona in 1967 and went to retrial in 1971. The purpose of the trial was to honor the will of James Kidd that left money to fund scientific research that provided proof of a human soul that leaves the body at the time of death. The collection contains correspondence, claimant materials, press clippings, photographs, audio recordings, and oversize materials.
