 Abstract:  Photocopies of 118 documents, chiefly official correspondence and printed orders related to Captain Nicholas Nolan, 10th Cavalry, from 1878 to 1880. Letters from the winter of 1879 concern the escort and protection of reservation Indians on a hunting expedition, including Kiowas, Comanches and Pawnees. In the summer and fall of 1880, while stationed at Fort Quitman, Texas, Nolan cooperated with Mexican forces along the Rio Grande River, in the pursuit of Indians with the Apache chief, Victorio. Correspondents include Henry O. Flipper and P.B. Hunt.

 Abstract:  Holograph letter written to Harvey Whitehill, Sheriff of Grant Co., New Mexico, dated March 26, 1900. It was sent from Tiernan's office in Galveston, Texas. The letter recounts his 1880 arrival in the Territory of New Mexico and his first meeting with Sheriff Whitehill. It also relates their encounter with Victorio's band of Apaches on Copper Creek, northwest of Silver City, and their subsequent rescue by the 6th Cavalry regiment under Captain Madden, and the 9th regiment under Colonel Hatch.

 Abstract:  Courses in mechanics were conducted under the supervision of Dean G. M. Butler, College of Mines and Engineering, in contract with the United States government to provide specialized training to 200 mechanics between July and August 1918. Members of the program were known as the "Fighting Mechanics". In September 1918, the program was expanded to become the Student's Army Training Corps.

 Abstract:  This collection contains papers, photographs, objects, and memorabilia of the USS Arizona from its christening in 1915 to destruction on December 7, 1941. Also held within the collection are materials documenting the annual memorial ceremonies held at the University of Arizona Student Union and the papers of the USS Arizona Reunion Association.

 Abstract:  Original holographic manuscript, unbound and incomplete, and missing the first half of the story. The manuscript starts with chapter 20, which corresponds to chapter 21 in the published book. Written in both pen and pencil, it contains her edits. Some duplicate typescript chapters are also present. The novel is about a young woman's love for a soldier, set in England during World War I.

 Abstract:  Holograph manuscript, in pencil, of the short story, Courage. It consists of eight leaves and contains McCutcheon's edits. The story concerns a wounded World War I soldier recalling his battle experiences, while recuperating in a French military hospital. The last page is signed and dated, December 23, 1917; however, a note at the beginning of the story says it was started December 20, 1916 and completed December 22. A typescript of the original story is included.
