 Abstract:  Scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, 1895-1899, concerning the Peralta Land Grant case. Most are written by Walter B. Stevens, 1848-1939. Stevens was a journalist and a St. Louis Globe-Democrat that covered the Peralta Land Grant case. Some clippings are present concerning other land grants. Also included are 88 pages of typescripts of news articles; some are the articles in the scrapbook.

 Abstract:  James Addison Reavis, 1843-1914, was a swindler and forger, famous for attempting to fraudulently obtain 7,500 sq. miles of Arizona Territory by falsifying documents in Mexico and Spain to show a Spanish land grant to Don Miguel Peralta in 1748. This collection includes photoprints of selected defendant's documents, supposedly from various archvies in Guadalajara, Mexico, purporting to prove the existence of the Peralta land grant claim. Includes an item by item critical explanation relating to forged features of the documents. Documents are in Spanish; with English explanation.

 Abstract:  Collection includes five letters written by Conrad to various people; three holograph, two typed, all signed. One letter by Conrad's wife, Jesse, and four by his executor, Richard Curle, briefly discuss publication of Conrad's works. Newspaper clippings from 1915 are articles Conrad wrote about his experiences in Poland during World War I. Reprints of photographs depict Conrad, places he lived, his family, and friends, including one of Stephen Crane. Three original etchings of Conrad are by Walter Tittle. Ephemera includes exhibition notices from a 1976 lecture about him, and posters from the 1964 movie production of Lord Jim.

 Abstract:  The bulk of the Commonwealth Mine records document its activities from 1910 until 1930. Many of its earlier and later records were lost or destroyed between the closing of the mine in the 1940s and the salvaging of the records in 1960. Many of the remaining records are fragile and fragmentary; several important series, such as Board of Directors minutes, contain only scarred and scattered remnants of their original contents.

 Abstract:  This collection is organized into two subgroups: Papers and Photographs. The Papers in the first subgroup include biographical information, correspondence, and drafts of 26 of his manuscripts, including Bloody Trails of the Old Southwest and Adventures in Navajoland. The photographs are the second subgroup in this collection, this uncludes, black-and-white photographs which cover the years 1902-1929. The bulk of them are mounted and deal with Forrest's travels in the West, especially his visits among the Indians of Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. The mounted photographs are chronicled by numbers on the reverse side which correspond to the numbers in two indexes prepared by Forrest for easy identification.
