	Abstract:	This collection consists of personal letters, professional correspondence and receipts of Thomas S. Sedgwick. Serving in the Union Army during the Civil War where he reached the rank of General. Later, he served in the U.S. Interior Department as railroad surveyor and engineer. Much of the correspondence pertains to his work with the Memphis and El Paso Railroad, later to become the Texas Pacific Railroad where he served as Chief of Engineers. He also served as President of the Board of State Harbor Commissioners at San Diego, California in 1890-1900.

The business records are value to those who are interested in the history of Kolb's struggle with the National Park Service and the Fred Harvey Corporation. The correspondence sheds light on personal relations within the family, friendships, working relationships, and again, various altercations with other business and institutional interests. All the manuscript materials which are not unique to the collection are available on microfilm.

After observing, working and saving, he was able to acquire a store in Prescott, and even opened a store in Jerome, Arizona for a time. His son became a rancher and cowboy in his own rite. Many family members still work and live in Arizona. This collection primarily consists of ledger books from J. I. Merchantile, but also includes photos and negatives of family, friends and travel.

	Abstract:	John Ruskin, 1819-1900, was an English art critic, social reformer, and author. Portfolio contains 12 signed holograph letters sent by Ruskin to William Roscoe Osler and his father, T. Smith Osler, 1873 to 1879; 12 others are to his friend Charles H. Woodd, circa 1850 to 1879. Several of the letters are undated. Also included are typewritten transcripts of the letters to the Oslers, which concern William's career in art.
