| | Abstract: | Archives folder A-132 contains a bound volume of 48 pages documenting six Basketmaker dog hair sashes (catalog Nos. 846A–846F) recovered together in one bundle during the 1930 excavation of Obelisk Cave. The volume includes correspondence between Earl Morris and Alexander Wetmore, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution (July 1946), regarding identification of dog fur used in the sashes; a shipping invoice from the Smithsonian; handwritten notes on data requirements; a chart showing details of sashes 846A–F; descriptions of plaiting techniques; a guide to measurements; sections on braids, lashing, and thread-length calculations; and detailed analyses of each individual sash specimen. Pages 20 and 21 are joined to form an oversize fold-out drawing of sash 846A. Table of contents and pagination were added by J. Farr, Arizona State Museum Library, July 17, 1968. | |
