 Abstract:  The Alianza Hispano Americana was founded in Tucson, Arizona in 1894 as a mutual aid benefit society for Mexicans in the Arizona territory. The collection features insurance documents that serve as legal evidence of financial transactions among members and within lodges. The materials include membership files containing legal and insurance records, lodge correspondence, administrative files like meeting minutes and financial papers, and printed materials. The materials are mostly written in Spanish. The Alianza was known to advocate for Mexican-American education and civil rights.  Abstract:  James Addison Reavis, 1843-1914, was a swindler and forger, famous for attempting to fraudulently obtain 7,500 sq. miles of Arizona Territory by falsifying documents in Mexico and Spain to show a Spanish land grant to Don Miguel Peralta in 1748. Photocopy of typescript relates his version of events surrounding the Peralta land grant claim. This text was reproduced in The Peralta Grant; James Addison Reavis and the barony of Arizona, University of Oklahoma Press, 1960.

Anderson's exploits as sheriff, stories of outlaws and acquaintances, local history, and events around Clifton. The photographs are chiefly portraits of family and friends from 1900 to the 1930s. Also includes a voter registration list of Greenlee County, 1922.

 Abstract:  Papers relating to the Alianza Hispano-Americana, which offered low-cost life insurance, social activities, and other services to primarily Mexican/Mexican-Americans living in the United States and Mexico. Founded in Tucson in 1894, Alianza was one of the first organizations to offer life insurance and burial policies to Mexican-American citizens. This collections includes photographs, financial files, correspondence between lodge secretaries, convention files, published materials, scrapbooks, and ledges pertaining to the daily operations of Alizana. Many of the ledgers include membership enrollment information, including members, their addresses, and lodge information.
