 Abstract:  John Henry Holst was the Supervisor of Indian Education, U.S. Dept. of the Interior, 1928-1943. Original typescript with holograph corrections, written about 1950, chiefly concerning education on the Navajo Indian Reservation during the 1930s and early 1940s. Includes 7 photographs of chapter houses and Navajo in western New Mexico and east central Arizona taken in the 1930s.

Collection includes a journal of activities, news releases, financial statements, and related papers; chiefly typescript material, with holograph notations, pertaining to a statewide campaign to defeat proposed legislation aimed at legalizing gambling in Arizona. Also included is a 1981 interview with David Brinegar about the campaign.
