 Abstract:  Duane Spencer Hatch (1888-1963) was an agriculturalist, researcher, and pioneer in rural reconstruction and community development. This collection contains materials pertaining to the life and work of Duane Spencer Hatch. Hatch conducted research in Costa Rica, India, Sri Lanka (formally known as Ceylon), Mexico, and in Parker, Arizona. The collection contains research materials such as field notes, diaries, correspondence, and reports, along with photographic materials concerning these rural locations. Personal materials in the collection from Hatch, and his wife Emily Hatch, include bibliographic and biographic materials, correspondence, publicly files, and photographs. Audio and visual materials in the collection include movies created by Hatch in movie reel and DVD format and talks given by Hatch in record and CD format.

 Abstract:  Research notes, newspaper clippings and maps, 1816-1938. The bulk of the material is handwritten research notes related to the navigation of the Colorado River. Some of the notes are contained in a card index. The notes include article summaries compiled for Mills' proposed dissertation, Navigation of the Colorado River and its effect on the development of the Arizona frontier. The maps are tracings done by Mills.

 Abstract:  Dr. Jack L. August, Jr. (1954-2017) was an expert in Arizona water-related politics, senators, and other historical subjects. His collection includes his personal materials, professional files, research files, writings, audiovisual materials, and memorabilia he collected throughout his life. August taught at several different institutions and held various positions at colleges, universities, and other history-focused institutions. He served as an expert witness on key pieces of water rights legislation in the state of Arizona. He researched several prominent Arizonan politicians including Barry Goldwater, Dennis DeConcini, and Evan Mecham. He also did several research projects surrounding Wade Church, Jim Chilton, the New Mexico Bar Association, and John R. Norton III, amongst others. A large portion of his research files are dedicated to water politics of Arizona including, but not limited to ANSAC, the CAP, the Colorado River Controversy, Native American/indigenous water rights, the Santa Cruz River, the Salt River, the Gila River, and others.
