It is organized into 3 subgroups with the bulk of the collection found in the committee files as well as in materials related to the January 8th, 2011 Tucson, Arizona shooting. The collection also contains correspondence, legislative files, voting records, subject files, photographs and audio visual materials. It contains official postal documents used in the daily business of the post office, correspondence from and to the post masters, ledgers documenting packages and monies mailed to and received from locations around the world, and newspaper clippings of the post office daily dedication, which took place in 1969. The names of California residents are noted in several of the ledgers in regards to packages and COD records. The collection provides a history of postal operations in Nubieber, California and is of particular use to those interested in postal history and genealogy. This collection may also be useful for the researcher involved in Women’s Studies due to the female postmistresses noted in the collection (Ethel R. Sherrill and May Oates).

 Abstract:  Ernest Alexander Love was born in New Mexico in 1895, and later moved to Prescott, Arizona with his family in 1898. He attended Stanford University before enlisting in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in San Francisco. He became a pilot in the American Expeditionary Force and was killed in action on September 15, 1918, at the age of 22. This collection includes, but is not limited to, biographical information; correspondence to family while traveling and training in San Diego, California, Italy, and France. It also includes photos, personal records, details of his death, and posthumous awards (including one signed by the President of France and another by General John J. Pershing, the commander of the American Expeditionary Force during World War I).
