Activities described include work on timber sales, forest fire suppression, law enforcement, and encounters with wildlife, poachers, arsonists and an occasional cattle rustler. The photographs document Monte Ray Stewart and his family.

 Abstract:  The Yavapai Heritage Foundation and the City of Prescott Historic Preservation Office conducted surveys of more than 1,200 territorial buildings in and around the original Prescott town site. Some of these were investigated even further and many were determined for inclusion in the National Register. The surveys and research done on properties provides valuable history about the properties and community and are a significant resource to the public. The Yavapai Heritage Foundation's efforts have helped Prescott be recognized for its historic value nationally and has given the town an economical boost in the process.

Pyne, who began his academic career at the University Iowa before becoming one of the founding faculty members of ASU-West, and later moved to ASU's Department of History and the School of Life Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on the Tempe campus. His groundbreaking research primarily focuses on global fire history, particularly in the US, Russia, Australia, Mexico, and Canada. It also contains correspondence and other papers related to his books, conferences, and grants, including the MacArthur Fellowship, the Fulbright Sweden, the National Humanities Center, Virginia G. Piper creative research fellowship, and the National Science Foundation. Also included are correspondence and drafts of short essays and interview transcripts for popular press publications and media appearances.
