| | Abstract: | This collection spans the postal history of one town in California, 1932-1972. It contains official postal documents used in the daily business of the post office, correspondence from and to the post masters, ledgers documenting packages and monies mailed to and received from locations around the world, and newspaper clippings of the post office daily dedication, which took place in 1969. The names of California residents are noted in several of the ledgers in regards to packages and COD records. The collection provides a history of postal operations in Nubieber, California and is of particular use to those interested in postal history and genealogy. This collection may also be useful for the researcher involved in Women’s Studies due to the female postmistresses noted in the collection (Ethel R. Sherrill and May Oates). | |
