Her teaching career spanned 47 years with the Flagstaff, Arizona school system. In 1932 she became principal of her high school alma mater, and in 1957 saw a local school named after her. Kinsey died in Flagstaff, 1965.

	Abstract:	Artist Lillian Wilhelm Smith (1882-1971) spent most of her life in Arizona, painting the people and places of the region. She first visited Arizona in 1913 with author Zane Grey (1872-1939), a cousin by marriage, to illustrate his western themed books. After a period of return visits, during which she became inspired by the people and landscapes of Arizona, she decided to move permanently to the state in 1916. This collection contains biographical information, family documents, correspondence, newspaper clippings, personal journals, photographs, chinaware designs, drawings and artwork covering Smith’s life in Arizona. The collection also includes information regarding Smith’s She-Kay-Ah chinaware designs, Hopi Whirlwind and Navajo Motif, as well as materials of her collaborations with author Zane Grey and poet Lou Ella Archer-Elliott.

Certain local living conditions are cited as contributing toward the illnesses. Three of the letters contain general diagnostic techniques for use with children. Colored pencil illustrations are included in some of the letters.

Illustrated with a few small explanatory drawings. Formulas include those for incrusting and engraving glass; illuminating photographic portraits; painting on velvet, corduroy, and satin; making pictures of bronze; and constructing fruits and flowers.

The Bloom Southwest Jewish Archives were founded by David A. and Leona G. Bloom, longstanding members of Tucson's business, religious, and social service communities. The Archive serves to highlight Jewish contributions to Tucson and surrounding southwest areas. This collection was previously SJA 002. The materials were transferred to Special Collections in 1998.

	Abstract:	Well-known for research on radar meteorology and cloud physics, Dr. Battan was a scientist who worked for the U.S. Air Force in World War Two, the Weather Bureau at the University of Chicago, and finally as a professor and head of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona. He was an authority on weather modification in both the U.S. and the Soviet Union. This collection contains research, data, publications, manuscripts, and correspondence of Battan's from 1946-1986. Subjects include weather modification, cloud physics, radar meteorology, the Thunderstorm Project, the Arizona Cloud Seeding Project, backscattering experiments, and scientific organizations related to those fields. Papers relating to conferences, meetings, lectures, and committee notes for various weather-related scientific organizations make up a large portion of the collection.
